CLERKS MEETS MARVEL COMICS

Y'all gotta check this out. Being an old Marvel man (More of a DC/Vertigo/Dark Horse guy these days), I found this especially hysterical. My favorite scene is the one where Galactcus and the Silver Surfer break dance to rap music.
What? So I'm a middle-aged man who reads graphic novels. I am most definitely NOT the Comic Book guy from the Simpsons. I got WAY too many people skills, I teach martial arts, I speak two languages, oh hell, let's just say I easily crack most of the stereotypes in half.

Anyways, for your viewing pleasure:

Those of you who don't read comic books, well, you may find it vastly amusing as well.

For those of you who look down your nose at graphic novels, comic books, etc:

Lighten up. You'll live longer. Shouldn't look down your nose at something until you take a taste of it.

Anyways, enjoy.

Ra you won thear me say a damn thing about graphic novels
Well, most open-minded folks won't. I recall Harlan Ellison (who loves comics, BTW) writing an intro to 1 of Neil Gaiman's graphic novels, & he had major words of praise for Gaiman.
Gaiman won an H.P. Lovecraft award for a comic book, which sent some literary folks into such a tizzy, that they sub-committeed a bunch of new rules to keep comic books from winning such a 'prestigious' award ever again.

Which really sucks the big hairy bird, because I've read some real great, eye-popping GN's which I wish I'D written.
It IS a valid artform. So yeah: fuck the critics.

Thanks for the chuckle. Although the image of some of my favourite superheroes has now been tarnished.

My fave part had to be the way DareDevil was harassing the Captain on his sexual preference's. The boy was relentless. I almost thought they were going to duke it out themselves.

Glad I could lighten your day up. I aims to please.
I cracked up when Prof. X slapped him a good 1.
The bit about 'It's my day off! I'm fighting Hitler!' was hysterical.

udonman:
ra it was the pulitizer that said graphic novels were no longer eligble to win
Thanks for the info. I didn't know the pulitzer ever even considered the graphic novel as an entry. I thought it was restricted to non-fiction or journalism.

LOL, nice link.

Now, I'm even more in the mood to check out Clerks II. I only hope it's 2/3 as good as the original.

couldnt get to the rules but I doubt they would take a graphic novel either
Well, since a GM wouldn't be filed under history, or any of the other categories, that's no surprise.
I always thought that writing awards were fairly autonomous. I wonder how much influence the pulitzers have on other awards? Interesting idea.

Oh, hey, didn't know there was a sequel. Geez, need to get out more!
I never saw 'Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back.' Was that any good?

I thought Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back was hilarious. I'm a very big Kevin Smith fan, as measured by the fact that I even enjoyed Jersey Girl. But, I would say J&SB is equally as funny as Mallrats and damn close to Clerks, too. It's better than Dogma, though that movie had more on its mind than just being funny, as did Chasing Amy.
