I'm a very big Kevin Smith fan, as measured by the fact that I even enjoyed Jersey Girl. But, I would say J&SB is equally as funny as Mallrats and damn close to Clerks, too. It's better than Dogma, though that movie had more on its mind than just being funny, as did Chasing Amy.The Jolly Nihilisthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08223458164080711495noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20169168.post-1147232845603803672006-05-09T20:47:00.000-07:002006-05-09T20:47:00.000-07:00FTM:Now, I'm even more in the mood to check out Cl...FTM:
Now, I'm even more in the mood to check out Clerks II.
Oh, hey, didn't know there was a sequel. I wonder how much influence the pulitzers have on other awards? I recall Harlan Ellison (who loves comics, BTW) writing an intro to 1 of Neil Gaiman's graphic novels, & he had major words of praise for Gaiman.
Gaiman won an H.P. Lovecraft award for a comic book, which sent some literary folks into such a tizzy, that they sub-committeed a bunch of new rules to keep comic books from winning such a 'prestigious' award ever again.

Which really sucks the big hairy bird, because I've read some real great, eye-popping GN's which I wish I'D written.
It IS a valid artform. So yeah: fuck the critics.Krystalline Apostatehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09044558668644447375noreply@blogger.com
