AND SO KOREA IS AMPING IT UP…AGAIN

Shots fired amid Korean tension
“South Korean troops have fired warning shots at soldiers from the North amid rising tension over North Korean plans to test a nuclear weapon.
Early reports suggest that about 40 shots were fired when soldiers crossed into the demilitarised zone.
Meanwhile, South Korea has welcomed a statement by the United Nations Security Council urging North Korea to abandon plans to test a nuclear weapon.
Seoul joined in calling on the North to return to six-party talks.
Some observers have warned that a nuclear test could come as early as this weekend.
After intruding some 30 metres (yards), the Northern troops returned to their side of the military demarcation line, it added.
One Southern military source, speaking anonymously to The Associated Press, said it was unclear whether the intrusion was "intentional or whether it was to catch fish".

More nervous news: “North Korea is believed to have more than 800 ballistic missiles, including long-range missiles which could potentially strike the US. The BBC News website looks at Pyongyang's missile programme, which has mainly been developed from the Scud missile.

North Korea first obtained tactical missiles from the Soviet Union, as early as 1969, but its first Scuds reportedly came via Egypt in 1976.
Egypt is believed to have supplied North Korea with Scud-B missiles and designs in return for its support against Israel in the Yom Kippur War. “

Strange, how we’re agonizing over Iran (a country which has never been a big player, and handicapped since the Iraq-Iran war), when all this time, we’ve obviously got a bigger worry to deal with.

Two reasons:

  1. SUV’s don’ run on Kim Chee, baby, and

  2. No book of fables has ever mentioned Korea

Chew that one over.

No 3 reason: N Korea already *has* nukes... which makes threatening them a bit more difficult....

True enough - I left that out.

..and now that they've just tested one..... [gulp].

Which is why I called it 'nervous news'. Are all the leaders in the world a bunch of crazies, or is it just me?

Ka asked: Are all the leaders in the world a bunch of crazies?

Pretty much, yes.

Damn. Here I was, hoping it was just me.
To paraphrase Richard III: "My kingdom for a sane leader!"
Such as it is.

I'm not sure that politics can really produce someone who is 'sane' in the way you mean. Most people prefer 'hard men' at the top of the tree. This leads to bluster & sabre rattling, which leads to war.. which leads to burning cities...

As you can tell I'm ever so slightly depressed over the future of our species... [grin].

Time for more beer I think.

Key word being men.

Then who'd be in charge of the asylum?

Some men and women would be completely offended by that comment. I gues some people just cant see that it is not in mans nature to not be somewhat selfish. Mens selfishness is what has made our species so successful, but has no place in making future plans for the whole of the species, that belongs to women. I hope that makes sense?? When all is broken down in biological terms it all balances out.

Yeah, sorry. Gotta call it the way I see it.

Well, it's not gender exclusive, but there's definitely an imbalance between them. At least behaviorally.
